Who is Allen West?

Allen West is an ultra right wing, reactionary zealot that wants to force his ideologies on everyone in the Treasure Coast.

Allen West was discharged from the military in 2003 when he was criminally charged for assault and violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

  • Charged with violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
  • Charged with acts unbecoming an Army officer.
  • Performed Illegal acts meriting court martial.
  • Faced 11 years in Leavenworth prison for war crimes.
  • Fined $5000.
  • Had to resign from the Army.

This: Allen West Military Trial Transcripts is a link to the lengthy investigation of Allen West's shameful actions in Iraq. It is difficult to read due to the many redactions, but almost all of the redactions are the names of the individuals involved. It is possible to figure out who the individuals are because of their titles. The names of the people are known and a can be found, but the important thing is that "LTC blank" refers to Lieutenant Colonel Allen West. "Mr. blank" is the Iraqi policemen being tortured and "SPC, SFC, PFC etc." are the soldiers under West's command.
Be forewarned, it will turn your stomach!

Here are some of the outrageous and extremist things he has said:

  • ALLEN WEST ON DEMOCRATS: "If Joseph Goebbels was around, he'd be very proud of the Democrat Party because they have an incredible propaganda machine."

  • ALLEN WEST ON PEOPLE WHO DISAGREE WITH HIM: "[Democrats should] get the hell out of the United States of America."

  • ALLEN WEST ON OBAMA SUPPORTERS: "When I see anyone with an Obama 2012 bumper sticker, I recognize them as a threat to the gene pool."

  • ALLEN WEST ON MEDICARE: "If you support Medicare in its current form you can kiss the United States of America goodbye."

  • ALLEN WEST ON LIBERAL WOMEN: "[They] have been neutering American men and bringing us to the point of this incredible weakness - to let them know that we are not going to have our men become subservient."

  • ALLEN WEST ON PAYROLL TAX CUT FOR MIDDLE CLASS: "This is a sad day for America and further evidences our continuing decline."

  • ALLEN WEST ON MILITARY: "Generals have to be very careful about blindly following a commander in chief."

  • ALLEN WEST ON AFRICAN-AMERICANS: "[The Democratic party is a] 21st-century plantation. I'm here as the modern-day Harriet Tubman, to kind of lead people on the Underground Railroad, away from that plantation into a sense of sensibility."

  • ALLEN WEST ON AFGHANISTAN VOTE, MONTHS AFTER REP GABBY GIFFORDS WAS SHOT IN THE HEAD: "I would take these gentlemen over [to Afghanistan] and let them get shot at a few times and maybe they'd have a different opinion."

  • ALLEN WEST TO REP DEBBIE WASSERMAN-SCHULTZ: "You are the most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. [...] You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!"

  • ALLEN WEST ON PEOPLE WITH "COEXIST" RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE BUMPER STICKER: "[That] person represents something that would give away our country. Would give away who we are, our rights and freedoms and liberties."

  • ALLEN WEST ON TAXATION SYSTEM SET UP BY FOUNDERS: "The Democratic appetite for ever-increasing redistributionary handouts is in fact the most insidious form of slavery remaining in the world today."

The Person, Not the Party

A Letter from Debbie Crowder, wife of Sheriff Bob Crowder
October 10, 2012

Dear Friends & Family,

As you know, my husband, Martin County Sheriff Bob Crowder, ran in the Republican primary against Allen West for Florida's new U.S. Congressional seat in District 18. While he was unable to compete against West's millions in out-of-state Tea Party money, I am so proud of his decision to run and the way he conducted his campaign. Bob was committed to giving Republican voters a choice in the primary, rather than letting the party dictate who our representative would be.

While my husband's campaign is over, I feel compelled to stay involved and vocal. Regardless of who our next President is, members of Congress must be able and willing to work together.

As a registered Republican for more than 20 years, I have always made my political decisions based on the person and not the party. I look for candidates who will represent all of their constituents. I look for candidates who will be able to work with members of both parties to get America back on track.

That is why I hope you will join me in supporting Patrick Murphy for U.S. Congress.

Throughout the course of my husband's campaign, I got a first-hand view of Allen West's character and I have serious concerns about his ability to provide the leadership we need during this time of national crisis.

For instance, at a meeting of the St. Lucie County Republican Executive Committee, Bob extended his hand to Allen West, in the spirit of goodwill - one military man to another. It was a gesture that, away from the spotlight, and with no need to be on good behavior, West blatantly snubbed. He crossed his arms across his chest, looked away and replied, "No thanks."

How will a man who could not extend his arm out for a simple handshake to his fellow Republican and the 20-year sheriff of Martin County be able to reach across the aisle to get things done in Washington? Allen West may have been an officer, but at that meeting he proved that he is no gentleman.

During the whirlwind 6 months of campaigning, Bob participated in nearly every forum or debate where he was invited to speak. I was at his side during most of those forums. Who was noticeably absent for every one of those events? Allen West.

However, during those same campaign stops Patrick Murphy, a moderate Democrat, was there, giving citizens an opportunity to get to know him. Patrick believes you can have different opinions than your opponents but still treat each other with respect - a characteristic that will serve him well in Washington.

If you believe, as I do, that bipartisanship should not be treated as an obscene word then I urge you to join me as a Republican for Patrick Murphy and vote for him on November 6.

I'd also like to invite you to learn more about Patrick Murphy during a meet and greet I'm co-hosting with Marilyn Mulach. Please contact Vanessa Miller at (561) 847-4105 or vanessa@patrickmurphy2012.com for details and to RSVP.

Very sincerely,
Debbie Crowder

"Allen West has shown time and again that he's out of touch with the people of Congressional District 18 and that he's part of the problem in Washington. When he's not spewing hateful Tea Party rhetoric, he's voting in lockstep with Paul Ryan to end Medicare as we know it while giving tax breaks to billionaires and millionaires -- prioritizing an extreme agenda that does nothing to help businesses create jobs or grow our economy. Florida voters are tired of these broken politics from Republicans like West, and Democrats are committed to running an aggressive campaign to elect Patrick Murphy."

Reactionary Representative Allen West:

Rep. Allen West Claims LGBT Workplace Discrimination ‘Don’t Happen’ And Doesn’t ‘See That As Being A Big Issue’
Rep. Allen West (R-FL), no stranger to controversy, declared on Thursday that gay people are never fired because of their sexual orientation in the United States.

“That don’t happen out here in the United States of America,” West told ThinkProgress during an interview on Capitol Hill.

When we pressed the Florida congressman for clarification, he dismissed the importance of protecting LGBT people from discrimination. “I don’t see that as being a big issue with small businesses,” West said.

Patrick Murphy, CPA - Vs. - Allen West.
Who is the Asset? – Who is the Liability?
Who is on Your Side of the Ledger?

Florida’s 18th District is the scene of one of America’s most hotly contested and politically important Congressional races this year. The district includes all of Martin and St. Lucie counties and much of northern Palm Beach County. In 2008, President Obama narrowly bested Senator McCain, receiving 51.5 percent of the vote in the area.

This year, voters in the 18th have a clear-cut choice between a far right-wing apologist darling of the Tea Party, and a reasonable moderate young man with the fiscal and business experience, and a plan - to get the district and the country moving again.

Patrick Murphy is running to bring bipartisanship and civility back to Washington, understanding that Congress must work together to solve the problems facing our nation. Patrick is running in Florida’s newly drawn 18th Congressional District against incumbent Congressman Allen West who’s “my way or the highway” rhetoric has earned him an infamous national reputation.

Murphy and West are literally worlds apart on almost every issue. The range of issues includes vital social and economic concerns that will deeply affect the lives of the district’s constituents for many years to come.

This recap will reflect the candidates’ positions on jobs and the economy, which is the most pressing issue on the minds of voters in the Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches as well as most citizens throughout the United States.

Both of the candidates’ stances on this vital issue are crystal clear. Patrick Murphy is committed to expanding the economy from the middle out - and creating job growth. As a CPA and small businessman, Patrick understands firsthand the negative impact that regulations and our tax policy have had on jobs and the economy. His balanced plan is to address the need to remove unreasonable bureaucratic barriers to business growth, while keeping in place the sensible regulations that protect consumers.

Patrick’s plan also addresses a tax system that needs fixing. His hands-on experience as a CPA gives him a knowledge base that his adversary is clearly lacking. Patrick’s plan promotes job creation by ending the tax loopholes that have allowed corporations to hide substantial profits overseas to avoid taxes. Patrick’s plan will invest many of those repatriated dollars into the support of small businesses that create jobs here in America.

While Patrick’s plan is geared to help the common citizen, Allen West has continually supported legislation, including voting for the Ryan Budget twice, that specifically protects and expands tax loopholes for the corporate giants and shields the companies that outsource jobs.

Asset/Liability - which candidate is on your side of the ledger?

Patrick Murphy supports providing tax cuts to small businesses and expanding lending so businesses of all sizes can create new jobs. As a small businessman himself, Patrick is the one candidate in this race who has actually created jobs. Patrick Murphy understands the need to invest in a clean-energy economy and provide tax credits to spark manufacturing of windmills, solar panels, electric cars, and other technologies here at home.

Allen West’s plan is to oppose “Make it in America” legislation in Congress that aims to promote American manufacturing. As far as energy policy goes, West adheres to the ‘drill, baby, drill’ philosophy which puts the Treasure Coast and Palm Beach economies at risk since they heavily rely on tourism and hospitality. Florida’s 18th District would be devastated by an oil spill.

Asset/Liability - which candidate is on your side of the ledger?

Patrick Murphy’s plan would put Americans to work rebuilding our roads, bridges, railways, and ports – which is critical to our ability to compete on a global level with rising global economic powers.

Allen West’s plan is to continually vote to make devastating cuts to federal programs and spending, including investments to our own nation’s infrastructure. West’s policy hurts both the country’s physical renewal as well as job creation.

Asset/Liability - which candidate is on your side of the ledger?

While jobs and the economy are a major focus of Patrick Murphy’s campaign, he also is committed to people-friendly policies in the domain of social issues. This begins with upholding our promise to seniors by protecting and preserving Social Security and Medicare, two programs that would be devastated by the Ryan Budget which Allen West, by his own words and actions is in lock step with; after all, he voted for the Ryan Plan twice.

Asset/Liability - which candidate is on your side of the ledger?

Also, on the social side of the ledger, Patrick Murphy is equally dedicated to a range of positive policies oriented to improving the lives of his constituents. These include supporting and improving our nation’s education system; protecting all Americans from discrimination; creating a fair path to citizenship while securing our borders; protecting women’s rights; ensuring all Americans have access to affordable and quality healthcare; protecting our environment while working towards energy independence; addressing our nation’s debt in a fair and responsible manner; and ensuring the security of Israel and her interests.

Learn more about Allen West’s plan and how he stands 4-square in opposition to Patrick Murphy’s constructive plan and against the interests of the constituents of his new district. Once you know how the candidates plan to govern you can responsibly answer the question -
