To quote Martin Luther King, Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!
January 17th, 2009
These words are doubly significant on this anniversary of Dr. King. This January 19th we will celebrate a man who gave his life for a cause that will finally be accomplished by the inauguration of the United States first African American President. This fact proves our citizens have finally overcome the sickness of racial prejudice.
The other significant event, and the one I am most truly thankful for is the freedom that this entire country can celebrate on January 20th. That is the elimination of the Bush "organization" and their deliberate destruction of the US Constitution that Bush and his cronies were pledged to "protect and defend". The trail of death and destruction that is attributable to this group of thugs is incomprehensible. The economic rape of the workers of this country and the total destruction of our economic base in favor of the furtherance of Bush's "have more" buddies' corporate dominance. The bright, shining beacon of Democracy that once was America has been prostituted to the degree that the light is dimmed almost beyond repair.
It will take decades to repair the damage to which our economy and our national spirit have been subjected. Our national reputation is low and we have a small group of men to thank for this disgrace, by name, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and the lowest of these weasels, Paul Wolfowitz. There are other, less prominent jackals that did not attain the level of disgust that the American people have for these aforementioned leaders. Let's root them out and vow that they shall never be given a position of authority in this country again. Let's promise to remember these names and place them in the annals if infamy forever.
